Are You Ready to be a “Liveaboard”?

Real estate prices are sky-high, and maybe that has you thinking about moving aboard a boat. In some cases, that’s taking “tiny home living” to an extreme, so you had better go into this with eyes wide open. Let’s look at eight things to consider before taking the plunge.

1. Plan the move and the expenses in detail.

Make checklists of life’s necessities and get the boat ready for living aboard, not just weekending in the islands. Prepare the boat before you move so it’s safe, dry, comfortable, and feels like a home, not a camper. Nobody likes living in an ongoing project. Make provisions to stay connected, and that means making provisions for TV and WiFi. Will your marina’s service suffice? You probably won’t save a lot by moving aboard.
