Introducing Fun, Free Online Lessons About The Great Lakes
Published: Saturday, April 4, 2020
Though many of us are sheltering in place, the Alliance for the Great Lakes is happy to have a way to bring the Great Lakes into your homes.
Announcing H.O.M.E.School, a new series of online lessons about the Great Lakes for kids in grades K-8. The eight online sessions will begin April 6, with a new lesson premiering on our website and Facebook every Monday at 9:30 a.m. CT.
Each week we will explore a different topic with a quick video from our education manager Katie Larson. After the “classroom” portion, students will have the chance to apply their knowledge with a fun, hands-on activity they can do at home. For educators and those who want to learn more, we will also offer resources to dig in deeper on the topic with links to other lessons and activities.
Topics will include geography, the water cycle, habitats, food webs, boats, plastic pollution and more.
Interested? Sign up for our weekly email reminder and we’ll let you know when each lesson goes live. You can fit them into your schedule whenever you want to use them.
Want to get started right away? Your kids can head to the classroom to meet Katie and learn a fun trick for remembering the names of the Great Lakes. Then they can test their knowledge with a fun online activity.
