Inflatable Boat Care And Maintenance
Published: Thursday, September 20, 2018
Did you know that you can extend the life of your inflatable boat? Sirocco Marine, the Lake Erie dealership for BRIG RIBs, is offering the following tips for keeping your inflatable in good condition:
1. Keep it clean! Washing your inflatable with liquid soap while using a soft bristle brush will remove most dirt, stains, and water residue. For tougher stains, you can use bleach spray on the tubes and scrub away problem areas. Thoroughly rinse all cleaning materials from the boat. Drying completely and applying a UV-protectant several times per season will keep your boat in excellent condition.
2. Cover it! Keep your inflatable covered and out of the sun when not in use.
3. Pump it up! Proper inflation with the recommended air pressure is important. Over or under pressurization can damage the seams, leading to costly repairs and may shorten the lifespan of the material. Low tube pressure greatly affects the running performance of your inflatable boat.
4. Don’t DIY! Small rips, tears, and punctures can be temporarily patched with the repair kit provided when you purchased your boat. However, permanent repairs should be completed by a certified dealership. For professional repair of seam blow-outs, large cuts, punctures, fiberglass or gelcoat problems, or tube replacement, call Sirocco Marine Lake Erie for a free estimate.
5. No time? Don’t fret! The Sirocco Marine Lake Erie service department provides all of the services mentioned in this article as well as detailing, maintenance (valve checks, leak detection, oil and gas filters, oil and lower unit changes, and impeller inspection), winterization, and storage.
