Edgewater Yacht Club to Host Cleveland Race Week 2019 J/120 National Championship

Published: Wednesday, June 12, 2019

Cleveland Race Week (CRW) is the largest sailing regatta on Lake Erie and has become one of the largest in the country. The annual event, now celebrating its 39th year, attracts over 300 boats from across the U.S., Canada and internationally. Nationally, Cleveland Race Week ranks as one of the largest sailing events based on number of sailing classes and attendance at the event. Certified in 2018 as a Bronze Level Clean Regatta by Sailors for the Sea, Cleveland Race Week is proud to conserve and protect our Lake Erie waters especially as the 50th anniversary of the historic Cuyahoga River fire falls on the Saturday of Offshore Weekend. Cleveland Race Week is proudly presented this year by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Pusser’s Rum, and Yuengling.

Founded in 1980, CRW has developed into 10 days of racing and special events. Cleveland Race Week is comprised of One Design Weekend, Junior Day, Women’s/Junior/Doublehanded Evening, and Offshore Weekend; this year, the J/120 National Championship will be included in One-Design Weekend. Approximately 300 boats will compete over the week, with an additional 125-150 youth sailors competing on Junior Day.

One Design Weekend: June 14-16
Youth Day: June 19
Women’s/Doublehanded/Junior Racing: June 19 (evening)
Offshore Weekend: June 20-23

There are opportunities for media to view and photograph the event from a large powerboat. Please contact the regatta to schedule. Racing schedules vary each day, but races will generally be from 10am-4pm and in the evening on June 19, 20, and 21.
