Where Performance Meets Luxury

Published: Thursday, June 17, 2021

Located on the east side of Michigan just an hour north of Detroit in the town of Kimball, the high-performance marine industry will find a full-service marine shop at American Custom Marine. Among the many services American Custom Marine offers, such as paint and fiberglass repair, boaters will also find a brand of boats that are iconic—the Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boat lineup. This lineup consists of performance center consoles ranging 34’-56’ in length, with some models boasting speeds close to 100 MPH.

Nor-Tech boats launched over 30 years ago, using their expertise on all types of performance hulls from catamarans to V hulls and finally to the latest industry craze: center console boats. Nor-Tech’s claim to fame has always been their combination of luxury, performance, and quality. With their manufacturing headquarters established in Ft. Myers, Florida, each boat is put through rigorous ocean testing to ensure superior performance and capability.

The Nor-Tech 340 Sport is the shortest of the center console line up, measuring at 34’ in length with a 10’ beam, and is powered by twin, triple or quad Mercury outboards. This nimble center console is capable of reaching speeds over 85 MPH easily and is highly customizable.

Next up in the CC lineup is the Nor-Tech 390 Sport. This is by far the most popular model in the lineup, measuring 39’ in length with a 10’ beam and weighing in at approximately 12,500 lbs. This perfectly balanced setup shares a very similar setup with the 340 Sport but offers the option of second row seating behind the helm to carry more passengers. The 390 Sport is also powered by twin, triple, or quad Mercury outboards, capable of reaching speeds just under 100 MPH.

Stepping up to 45’, the following size in the CC lineup is the 450 Sport model, which has a 12’ beam. This beast is powered by quad or quintuple Mercury Outboards and is capable of speeds in excess of 80 MPH. Weighing in at approximately 22,000 lbs., the 450 Sport is perfect for longer distance trips while getting you there quickly and comfortably.

The all new 500 Sport model measures 50’ in length with a 12’ beam and shares the same options and power as the 450 sport. However, this model boats an extended five feet of distance behind the second row of helm seating, which provides a massive entertainment area.

Last in the lineup is the 550/560 Sport model. Again, this model shares the same characteristics of the 450 and 500 sport models but measures 55’-56’ in length, depending on the options selected. Power options are the same as the previous models, but also includes sterndrive triple/quad diesel options. Regardless, you can’t go wrong with what you choose.

Each Nor-tech boat is made to order with customizable options from paint and power to electronics, lighting, seating arrangements, and even interior materials. These incredible machines can be made to suit your exact needs for your style of boating. Each model is powered by a choice of Mercury or Mercury Racing Outboard power. For fishing, luxury, or performance, however you option your boat, you will be sure to enjoy every moment on your custom Nor-Tech center console.
