Step Aboard In Style With The New Gunwale Mat, By Chafe-ProŽ

Published: Monday, December 2, 2019

For over 20 years, Chafe-Pro® – a family-owned, second-generation business, has been providing chafe solutions to the commercial and recreational marine industries as well as several other industries. Through their expertise and experience, they have designed many custom units for unique applications around the world, including protecting the lines of the U. S. Coast Guard and U. S. Navy for over 20 years.

Building upon the success of their recently debuted product, Chafe-Mat™, the R&D team at Chafe-Pro® has designed a new version of a popular boating accessory: the Gunwale Mat – a superior boarding mat.

The Gunwale Mat, with similar features to the Chafe-Mat™, is constructed using the same durable ballistic nylon as an outer layer. The underside of the Gunwale Mat is a soft, porous material, which both protects the boat’s gel coat or teak finish from the dirt and rubble found on the bottoms of shoes and ensures that the mat will not retain water. To prevent the Gunwale Mat from sliding out of place while a person is boarding, the design team at Chafe-Pro® used their proprietary gripping material, ShoreGrip®.

Measuring 20” wide x 40” long, the Gunwale Mat will welcome you and your guests aboard in style with a design that will last for years. The ends are weighted to prevent being blown away or out of place by the wind. Simply drape the Gunwale Mat over the gunwale and let the weighted ends hold it steady.

For those who like that added personal touch, the Gunwale Mat can be embroidered with your custom design.

Starting in early 2020, Chafe-Pro® will offer a package deal on their website! This package will consist of a pair of Chafe Guards, two Chafe-Mats™, and one of the new Gunwale Mats and will be available for personalized embroidery.
