RECIPE: The S.S. Ambrosia - a Gilligan-Inspired Fruit Salad

The world is FILLED with all kinds of advanced technology. We see it everyday. We use it everyday. We video chat. We tweet. We have 3D printers and have fancy, large mirrors that help us get in shape. From our tech savvy phones to our boats with POD Drives, technology is all around us. We rely on these things to help us navigate our busy lives and stay connected.

But, what if we ever needed a break from it? Although modern technology is extremely helpful in so many ways, sometimes my crew finds ourselves wanting to withdraw from it… just for a bit. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that we are ready to board the S.S. Minnow to end up on a deserted tropical Island to live off bananas and have Gilligan and Mary Anne as neighbors. I’m just saying that sometimes the thought of reverting to a coconut phone does have a certain enticing simplicity to it.

In honor of our good friend Gilligan, who has given my little skippers hours of binge watching entertainment aboard our vessel, I bring you The S.S. Ambrosia (Gilligan style)!

Cheers!

The S.S. AMBROSIA (Gilligan style)

Serves 4-5 crew mates

Stock your galley with:

1 cup maraschino cherries
1 cup mandarin oranges
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 cup green seedless grapes
1 cup pineapple chunks
1 cup mango chunks
1 cup shaved unsweetened coconut
1 cup mini marshmallows
1/2 cup chilled milk
1 cup plain greek yogurt
1/2 a package of powdered banana pudding

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, add all your fantastically delicious fruits, shaved unsweetened coconut, and mini marshmallows and mix together. In a separate smaller bowl, add your plain greek yogurt, 1/2 of a package of powdered banana pudding mix, and the chilled milk. Whisk until smooth. Add the whisked pudding mix to your fruit and gently stir and coat your fruit. Add a sprinkle of the shaved coconut on top as a garnish. Make sure to serve this Gilligan-style dish chilled!
