Belle Maer Harbor Marina Offers Resort Style Amenities

Published: Monday, March 5, 2018

A hidden gem located in Harrison Township and serving the community for over 34 years, Belle Maer Harbor Marina is a 60 acre resort-style marina that is located on Lake St. Clair’s Anchor Bay, north of the Clinton River and close to Lake St. Clair Metropark, the three (North, Middle & South) Channel Shipping lanes, Strawberry Island, and some of the most sought after musky, walleye, and bass fishing spots. With 409 rental slips, 108-rack in & out storage building, 20 service slips, and 406 dockominiums, Belle Maer is home for over 900 boats in total when at full occupancy making them the largest marina in Michigan. In 2017, they hold the honor of being again voted the WDIV “Best of Best Marina” in Southeast Michigan.

Belle Maer Harbor has onsite marine service facilities such as a gas dock, boat brokerage/sales, fiberglass shop, canvas shop, and an engine shop right on the property.

Even beyond the technicalities, customers drive from all over the greater Metro Detroit area to not only enjoy a day on the lake, but also the amenities and events the Marina has to offer. Some of the events offered include marina fun day, dog days, annual car show, dinghy poker run which benefits the Macomb County Sheriff Marine Division, movie nights, and concert series — just to name a few.

Belle Maer Harbor has recently developed community business partnerships which they call the Concierge Program. Belle Maer Harbor partners with local businesses to offer its boaters exclusive offers for their patronage upon presentation of the Marina photo ID card. Between local businesses sponsoring Marina events and discounts being offered under the Marina Concierge Program, Belle Maer Harbor has found a way to share its customers with local businesses in Harrison Township and the surrounding communities. The largest Marina event is the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show on the bay in front of the Marina. This event is co-sponsored by Belle Maer Harbor and MacRay Harbor.

Upon its purchase in 1984, the Marina entirely renovated all of the infrastructure over a five-year period. Belle Maer Harbor has continued to invest in their business with renovations to their infrastructure, facilities, and the addition of new amenities. These renovations include the two bathhouses, the addition of a state of the art heated storage building, new seawall, landscaping, and the addition of indoor basketball/tennis courts, among others.

In fact, over the last five years, the Marina has completed its second total renovation of its infrastructure and amenities. The last phase of which began in the fall of 2016 and was completed by spring 2017 and included the remodeled Mt. Howard lookout, renovation of M-Row (docks, seawall, sidewalks, electric, and landscaping), and some improvements to the beginning and end of N-Row. The Marina is now ready for another 30 years!

If you have, or would like to have, a cottage in the woods, or you are looking for that perfect oasis, that weekend getaway, that “home away from home”, that’s exactly what Belle Maer Harbor has done. Belle Maer has created that “home away from home”atmosphere that provides a safe and inviting place to dock your “floating cottage.” Their convenient location on Anchor Bay in Lake St. Clair makes Belle Maer Harbor ideal for short distance water getaways, or long afternoon anchoring on the sandy shallows of “Poor Man’s Beach.” And, when the season winds down, Belle Maer Harbor offers over 62,000 square feet of inside heated storage and acres of paved surfaces to winter store your boat.

These are just a few examples of why Belle Maer Harbor continues to be the chosen destination for 900 boating families looking for more than a parking spot for their boat.
