Our revolutionary product, DockEZ, is an important tool in the everyday safety of boating life. Everyone is aware of the fun, unforgettable experiences that can be had on a boat. Whether it’s tooling around in the bay, inviting friends over for drinks, or setting sail to a far-away location; however, many are unaware of the hidden dangers of the experience.

One such danger recently led a Great Lakes family to lose their son. Just two years ago, the 19-year-old was tragically the victim of Electric Shock Drowning while the family had their boat docked at a marina on South Bass Island in Lake Erie.

In the last five years alone, there have been over 25 reported cases of electric shock drowning deaths, according to ABC News. In that same time period, the CDC approximates that 19,000 people have died due to unintentional drowning, some without answers as to why. The true percentage of those 19,000 drowning deaths caused by electric shock go widely unknown, because the effects of electrocution are known as a “silent killer.”

There are many causes of electric shock drownings; DockEZ aims to eliminate one of those unfortunate causes. If a shore power cord falls into the water while the male end is plugged into electrical terminals, the female end has the potential to release stray AC current into the surrounding water. To eliminate this possibility, Boat-EZ Marine Products has manufactured a prevention step by restraining your shore power cords to the side of your dock slip. This safety utility product, called DockEZ, can be used as your ultimate solution to organize your dock space and prevent trip hazards, as well.

Utilizing DockEZ will eliminate the need to leave your shore power cords on the dock, or the burden of having to zip-tie your shore power cords through the underside frame of your dock. Hanging your cords high-up prevents them from accidentally falling into the water, and it allows them to safely go from your boat to the shore power terminal, leaving the risk implications of electricity out of sight and out of mind, but not forgotten by us here at Boat-EZ. This lifetime-long solution allows your cords to be accessible to drop-in or pull-out at a moment’s notice, but secure enough for you to leave the aggravations and worries behind.
