Detroit, MI – The Progressive Detroit Boat Show wrapped up its 7-day event at Huntington Place in Detroit on Sunday, January 22, with show management and exhibitors reporting strong attendance, interest, and sales at the event. 51,116 people attended the event. Paid attendance was comparable to 2020, however due to fewer promotional days, overall attendance was down slightly (7%) from the last show in 2020. Snowfall on the closing day of the show impacted the attendance that trended ahead of 2020 until that point.

“We were excited to be back at the Detroit Boat Show this year, and it was great seeing all the traffic and buyers!” said Paul Vanderdonck, Sales Manager at Colony Marine. “Shows like this give us the opportunity to introduce Colony Marine to a group of boating public that may not get to us using traditional methods.”

“With so many new people entering the boating market during the pandemic, we welcomed a lot of first-time attendees to this year’s show,” said Show Manager and MBIA Executive Director Nicki Polan. “Filling more than 400,000 square feet with nearly 600 boats on the show floor, there were many new model introductions, and the availability of inventory brought a lot of excitement, fun, and the opportunity to highlight the boating lifestyle to attendees in the middle of January in Michigan.”

Michigan is the third largest marine market in the country with more than 800,000 registered boats, and a $7.9 billion annual economic impact on the state.
