Port Whitby Marina is an award winning 420 slip facility. Located within Whitby Harbour, the marina can handle vessels small and large, up to 70 feet in length. The marina has been in existence since 1978 and has undergone major improvements in recent years, including a modern 6100 sqft clubhouse, new floating piers, and new barbecue shelters.
Whitby Harbour, located 23 nautical miles east of Toronto Harbour, has been a significant port of call on Lake Ontario since 1833 when grain was first shipped from the port by schooner! The spacious main channel into Whitby Harbour is one of the safest and easiest to navigate on the entire Lake and all navigation channels are dredged to maintain depths of six feet, even late in the boating season. Services at the marina include visitor and seasonal dockage, fuel (ethanol-free gasoline and diesel), waste pump-outs, boat ramps, storage, haul and launch via a 50 ton travel lift, mast-stepping, hall rentals, laundry, hot beverages, ice cream, and ice.
The entire Port Whitby area is connected via a fantastic waterfront trail which links to beaches, conservation areas, and playgrounds, as well as an outdoor gym for those with energy to burn! For boater convenience, bicycles, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards are available to sign out free of charge along with free use of the propane barbecues. Daily newspapers and WiFi are also complementary!
The local area surrounding Port Whitby Marina features all of the amenities of a large urban centre while retaining the small town feel that Whitby is known for. Boaters can walk or cycle to nearby establishments including The Lake Grill, The Royal Oak Pub, Town Brewery, Tim Hortons, Subway, Gino’s Pizza, Eggsmart, LCBO liquor store, and more. The GO train (rail transit to Toronto) is a short walk from the marina too!
Major summer events for 2018 include Canada Day celebrations on July 1 and Rotary Ribfest on July 8.
