Dock at shore or drive along it, Port Sanilac, Michigan — nicknamed “The Heart of the East Ports” — offers a relaxing setting along the peaceful shores of Lake Huron. Port Sanilac is famous for its historical and quaint setting. If you’re looking for downtown shopping, delicious dinner options, golfing, entertainment, or weekend festivities, make Port Sanilac your destination!

Port Sanilac Harbor HAS A VARIETY OF AMENITIES! Whether it’s for the weekend or all summer long, they have you covered! The Harbor offers seasonal and transient dockage. Grill out under the paved patio and enjoy the fabulous view of Lake Huron. Showers and bathrooms are located on site at the Harbor pavilion, next to the Boater’s Club Room which contains a kitchenette, lounge area with an office, TV, and free WiFi. The Harbor sells ice, snacks, and sundries at the office and fuel dock. They also offer pump out service, diesel, and ethanol free gasoline. Slip amenities include 30AMP and 50AMP service, water supply, and free WiFi.

Kayak rentals are also available at the Harbor. Take them for a cruise around the docks or venture out beyond the breakwall for an outstanding view of Lake Huron and the eastern shore! Kayaks are launched on the Harbor’s beachfront and can be rented hourly or all day.

Interested in fishing? The fish cleaning station is located a few steps from the Harbor right next to the boat launch. If you’ve got a 40 ft. or smaller boat, you can put your boat in the water and park your trailer right on site! The updated fish cleaning station is located at the boat launch. Owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the site is maintained well and cleaned daily. Take a walk down the street to see the historical Port Sanilac Lighthouse that has been completely renovated and restored!

The Harbor is literally steps away from downtown, where you can find many local shops, restaurants, and activities. The Port Sanilac Municipal Harbor offers a courtesy vehicle that will not only take you up town, but to the golf course as well! Venture uptown to see all that Port Sanilac has to offer and come summer with us!

The Port Sanilac Lighthouse was built in 1886, originally burned kerosene, and was electrified in 1929. It is now a private residence, but the light remains an active aid for navigation today. Recently, the lighthouse has been purchased and completely restored! With just a short block away from the Harbor, the lighthouse is a great stop for photos!

Events

Annually, we have many festivals and events down at the Harbor. The Port Sanilac Antique Boat show and Camper/Trailer show has partnered together to create a wonderful display of vintage campers, trailers, antique wooden boats, classic cars, and model boats. Live music compliments this great display as well as an award ceremony. The TCT (Tin Can Tourist group) has an excellent array of historically accurate trailers and campers. Come and enjoy the days of rumbling tailpipes and mahogany decks cruising the lakes and rivers!

We also have a great fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day! Come and enjoy the Village parade! The fireworks begin at dusk down at the Harbor. You can reserve a slip or bring your lawn chair down to the beach, or set up in the public park to watch the magnificent show!

The Port Sanilac Blues Festival is a fun-filled summer event with great food, live music, and fun people. Blues bands from all around come to this event and it’s hosted down at the Harbor Park. Free admission to all so bring your lawn chairs and set up shop right in the park!

Port Sanilac Farmer’s Market is located at the Historical Museum every Friday during the summer months. Choose from a great selection of fresh vegetables, fruits, plants, and artwork.

Established in 1925, Huron Shores Golf Club is known as a challenging and fun to play course in Michigan’s thumb that offers breath-taking scenery with a classic layout. Huron Shores is an 18-hole regulation course with a beautifully remodeled clubhouse, open completely to the public! Huron Shores also offers golf memberships. Enjoy a gourmet meal at Mulligan’s overlooking the course and the vast blue water!

Port Sanilac Marina is a privately-owned marina within the Harbor. They have everything you need to get you in and out and on to the Lake! The Marina offers a full-service marine facility including inside and outside storage, haul-out, and launch services with a full marine service department, boat sales, kayak sales, a ship store, and towing service. Don’t forget to head over the First Mate’s Ice Cream Parlor for their excellent hand-made waffle and cake cones! With 24 flavors to choose from, and a selection of sundaes and floats, you’re sure to find something to suit your taste buds!

Less than a 10 minute walk just south of the Harbor lies the Historical Village. Take a step back in time and schedule a tour of this ten acre property containing over a dozen historic buildings including a centennial school house, church, general store, the 1872 Loop-Harrison mansion furnished in time-period, military memorabilia, shipwreck items, and more! The Barn Theatre is included on the property as well. Catch a show at the historical Barn Theatre!
