Cruisers Yachts – 42 GLS
Published: Monday, February 1, 2021
Since 1953, Cruisers Yachts of Oconto, Wisconsin, has been known as one of the world’s premier providers of midsize luxury yachts. Its sleek Cantius line has been a prominent leader in the express cruiser market, and its newly expanded GLS series will continue to impress you.
Sister to the 38GLS, the 42 GLS was introduced at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show at the end of October 2020. It’s dual beach doors, deep bow seating, and spacious overnight accommodations are perfect for weekend trips with friends and family.
The open-concept cockpit was designed with entertainment in mind. The bow lounge can comfortably seat six people and features a cocktail table that can be lowered to become a sun pad.
The helm station is located on the vessel’s starboard side and can be outfitted with dual Simrad electronic screens. Visibility is excellent both forward and aft. Beneath the double-wide bolster helm seat is storage or an optional icemaker.
The galley is located portside adjacent to the helm station and features a fiberglass inlay sink, fridge, grill, and bottle storage along with an optional TV. Built into the galley is a raised wet bar with two swivel bar stools. Across from the galley is a spacious U-shaped dinette to maximize entertainment.
However, it’s the dual beach doors that are the most prominent feature on this boat. By simply pressing a button on the port and starboard side, the hull walls lower 90 degrees and become additional swim platforms. Space that was once lost with an outboard configuration is now doubled using the beach doors.
For added comfort, the aft-facing bench backrest can swivel to face the starboard side beach door. Dual swim ladders placed on either side of the engines allow you to get in and out of the water with ease. There is an opening sunroof with an optional foredeck and aft deck shade for an escape from the sun.
The lower cabin features an aft stateroom with a custom-sized berth for two. An inclined backrest facing an optional TV is perfect for movie night. Personal reading lights and plenty of storage cabinets wrap up this cozy space.
For additional sleeping quarters, the U-shaped dinette converts into a comfortable berth. The lower galley features a fridge, microwave, and optional flat-screen TV. The head aboard the 42 GLS features a sink, toilet, and standing shower. Storage is hidden behind the mirror and underneath the sink, which allows you to tuck away personal items.
Comfort coupled with performance makes this hybrid yacht a standout in the current market. The 42 GLS features triple 400 Mercury Verados clocking in at a top speed of 52 mph. Outboard and stern drive options from Volvo Penta and MerCruiser range from 350-430 HP. All options come outfitted with joystick maneuverability.
