You Know You Want a Great Lakes Scuttlebutt Dress!

Published: Tuesday, July 18, 2017

The first annual Recycled Runway took place April 21st in an effort to raise money toward local waterway cleanups. This year’s focus was the Big Island Preserve, a natural oasis along the Sandusky Bay shoreline. Twenty-eight entrants stomped the catwalk in outfits designed using reclaimed materials or items that are typically either thrown away or recycled.

Rachel Adkins, General Manager of the Huron Yacht Club (Huron, OH), read about the event and approached talented HYC member, Ruthann Byrne, about designing a dress to participate in the event. After some brainstorming, it was decided to use Great Lakes Scuttlebutt magazine as the material for the dress due to Huron Yacht Club’s long-standing love of the magazine and distribution to its members. Rachel volunteered to model the dress during the Recycled Runway and together they ended up placing second out of twenty-eight entries!

Congratulations to Rachel and Ruthann of the Huron Yacht Club for a job well done! We love the dress and are honored that you enjoy our magazine enough to wear it!
