Sea Shanty Family Concert on Board the USS Brig "Niagara"

Published: Thursday, May 18, 2017

The National Museum of the Great Lakes will be hosting a family friendly concert this Saturday, May 20 at 6:30pm, by the Boys of Bay City featuring historic 19th century sea shanties. The concert will be performed on board the USS Brig Niagara, which will be docked at the museum this weekend for private events. The Niagara will be open for touring following the concert, until 8:30pm.

“The Boys of Bay City do a wonderful job telling history by singing the working songs of the 19th century,” said Christopher Gillcrist, executive director of the NMGL, “And having the Brig Niagara, one of the most recognizable ships of the 19th century as a stage and backdrop, make it that much more relevant and interesting.”
