Whiskey Island Boat Club's Annual Parade of Lights

Published: Tuesday, July 19, 2016

On Friday night, July 22, 2016, the Whiskey Island Boat Club will participate in their annual “Parade of Lights”. The boat club has brought back an old tradition for the past five years, and they are looking forward to even greater participation this year. Members will decorate their boats for Christmas in July, and parade their boats from the mouth of the Cuyahoga River up to Merwin’s Wharf and back. The boats will meet at the mouth of the river at or around 9:30pm. This year we have combined our efforts with neighboring Edgewater Marina Boat Club and anticipate an even larger turnout.

Who is Whiskey Island Boat Club?

Whiskey Island Boat Club (WIBC) was formed in the summer of 2009 and has over 200 members. We are made up of people who have a boat at a dock or in dry stack, a jet ski, or other water toy that sits on land by the water’s edge or just someone who enjoys the lifestyle at the marina (but doesn’t have a boat). We are friends and families who enjoy boats and boating, fishing, picnics, music, and the beautiful sunsets over Lake Erie. We continue to promote safe boating through our monthly meetings and various communications throughout the year. We operate independently of Whiskey Island Marina; however the majority of our members dock their boats there.

WIBC has many events throughout the season at the marina. We have monthly meetings every third Tuesday of the month at the marina during the boating season and at various locations near the marina during the winter months. We are a member of the Greater Cleveland Boating Association (GCBA) which allows for reciprocity with other member marinas and yacht clubs.
