FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.– (Marine NewsWire) – Palladium Technologies has been awarded a DAME Award for the second year in a row. The company's new SiMON² ship alarm monitoring application was named one of the most innovative products of 2010 at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam.
SiMON², a new wireless application designed to run on the Apple iPad platform, was co-winner of the DAME "Most Innovative Product" award, sharing the honors with Navionics' Mediterranean HD navigation system. SiMON² was also recognized with a "Special Mention" in the "Marine-Related Software" category.
In presenting the Most Innovative Product awards, the jury report stated: "These products utilized the iPad in ways never before seen. With the iPad, both products made control and navigation of any yacht significantly easier than has ever been before."
Palladium introduced SiMON² in 2010 as a self-contained system to provide mobile alarm monitoring for smaller yachts, leveraging the swipe, multi-touch technology of the Apple iPad to present a wealth of monitoring data with crisp and rich graphic displays. It uses Wi-Fi links with newly designed controllers, which interface to the vessel's engines, generators, tanks, batteries, electric panels and other critical equipment.
Mike Blake, president of Palladium Technologies, commented, "This is a great honor. Very few companies can claim to have won back-to-back DAME Awards two years in a row. This award carries tremendous prestige in the international boating marketplace, and it represents a validation of our commitment to innovation and our investment in research and development over many years. Special thanks go to our talented and highly motivated engineering team who has worked so hard to make this technology a reality."
Last year's DAME Award went to Palladium's iSiMON wireless monitoring application for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch platforms.

The DAME prize is awarded annually by an independent panel of judges for the best-designed products introduced at METS. The jury also usually names a winner for each category and gives "Special Mentions" at its discretion. Apart from rewarding design, the jury can decide to award a certificate for "Most Innovative Product"and/or "Most ECO-Friendly Product."
