Marinno's Innovative External Manoeuvring System EXTURN Combines Functionality with Luxury, Makes Docking Easy

Compact, Convenient, Powerful

Marinno, with the head office in Koblach (West-Austria), presented EXTURN for the first-time in spring 2008 on the Austrian Boat Show in Tulln. Because of the excitement displayed that the show, exhibition appearances in the following months included all of the renowned fairs in Europe (Paris, Barcelona, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, London, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Oslo, Istanbul, Athens, etc.)

The Innovation is Born

"We primarily developed the external manoeuvring system for more security," said boat fan and construction engineer Ing. Hubert Holesz. "However, after the first introduction was so successful, we wanted to offer it to other boat enthusiasts and hobby sailors. All the boats tested with these thrusters keep on course more easily and operate on a higher level. Also, any kind of port manoeuvring, no matter the weather, is no longer a problem." EXTURN forms the perfect bridge between functionality and luxury.

Benefits of Bow & Stern Thrusters

Since their invention, bow and stern thrusters have been practical and relatively popular manoeuvring systems for boat owners. They make manoeuvring in a confined space or under difficult conditions much easier. To most boaters, however, the purchase of a conventional bow or stern thruster is associated with significant effort and many disadvantages. How much space will be used inside the boat? What installation costs can be expected? How long will the downtime of the boat be while being fitted with a bow thruster? Does the boat have the necessary hull form for such a manoeuvring system? These are just some of the questions that often lead to a single determination: The boat owner decides against bow and stern thrusters.

But all these disadvantages are overcome by the innovative manoeuvring systems of Marinno. This innovative company, MARINNO - maritime innovations, provides a simple, inexpensive alternative that also provides for more safety and comfort: EXTURN - the external bow and stern thruster.

Even the terms "external bow and stern thruster" is a glimpse of the main advantages of this revolutionary technology. The complete mechanism of the bow and stern thruster was reduced to a minimum (16.5 cm lateral cut, 55 cm length) and is streamlined and compact. Instead of the conventional thruster cost added to an excessive cross channel construction project, the EXTURN mounts simply and cost effectively. Three threaded bolts mounted in a longitudinal direction at your choice of effective locations will secure the thruster. The central threaded bolt is designed as a hollow shaft and serves as the cable routing path. This reduces the space required inside the boat and keeps both the assembly and mounting costs to a minimum.

Further Development Continues

Since 2007, Marinno has stood for maritime innovations and therefore they are always aiming to upgrade the spectrum of the external manoeuvring system with interesting functions and equipment. A few examples of work in progress include a collision-warning sensor, an underwater camera and a fully automatic, wind-power control system. EXTURN is just the start for Marinno. Many beneficial products will follow soon that will allow boaters to not only enjoy the lake, but also make these upgrades in a simple, do-it-yourself way.
