Killarney Mt. Lodge Sets The Table For Local Charities

Chefs Across The Great Lakes Culinary Exchange

Published: Monday, June 20, 2016

On June 7 well known Detroit area chef Michael Trombley, and sous chef Tony Murad were featured chefs at the latest Killarney Mountain Lodge Chefs Across the Great Lakes (CAGL) culinary exchange.

This series of dinners featuring visiting chefs from around the Great Lakes has drawn considerable attention starting with the initial Henry Ford Museum Roots dinner in November of 2015 when the Killarney chefs came to Dearborn, Michigan.

Detroit’s Chef Trombley expressed his delight at the Killarney experience.  "We served a wonderful venison dinner with unique side dishes all to rave reviews.  It was a lot of fun," said Trombley, who acquired some of his considerable skills working under Master Chef Milos Cihelka and Chef Steve Allen at the former Golden Mushroom which earned a reputation as one of the finest restaurants in metro Detroit.

This latest event at Killarney marked the completion of one exchange.  Other CAGL dinners planned for this year include 2 seatings at the Twisted Olive in Petoskey, with Killarney's Chef Guy Bedard and Sous Chef Patrick Tremblay bringing their talents to Twisted Olive this October.

In October, Chef Jim Barnett of the Westin Hilton Head Resort & Spa visits Killarney to introduce a touch of southern cuisine to the northlands.  The second leg of this exchange will take place at the Westin in April of 2017.  Other exchanges will be announced throughout the year.

"We had a total of 123 guests May 25 and June 7, a substantial success." said Killarney’s General Manager, Kelly McAree.  All monies raised from the Chefs Across The Great Lakes dining events at Killarney Mountain Lodge will help fund Killarney Elementary School, in Killarney, Ontario.  "These dining events bring in guests who are looking for a unique culinary experience," McAree continued.
