As this article is being written, the cold weather is upon us and we are really looking forward to spring. Those interested in ice fishing are likely finding chances to get out on the ice, and those who prefer spring, summer, and fall fishing are likely using this time to prepare equipment for the coming year, as well as attend the many conferences and expos that provide fantastic educational and networking opportunities.
It’s also a great time of year to share fishing photos, stories, and knowledge with friends and family while waiting for the warm weather fishing season to begin. With the theme of this issue highlighting “Women in Boating,” it only seems appropriate to discuss how fishing truly can be for everyone. We are excited to see more and more people of all ages and backgrounds at fishing-related events and tournaments, which is a sign that the sport has future opportunities for growth!

As of the writing of this article, the Great Lakes fishing reports are as follows:
Lake Ontario Fishing Report
The cold winter temperatures are creating opportunities for ice fishermen to get out and fish. We’re seeing reports of perch in good numbers, as well as pike.
Lake Erie Fishing Report
The cold weather has also been getting Lake Erie ice fishermen excited. Those able to get out on the open water have been reporting crappies and steelhead.
Lake Huron Fishing Report
As of the writing of this article, Lake Huron is bringing reports of a variety of species. People on various tributaries, bays, and parts of the lake have been reporting perch, steelhead, sunfish, walleye, bluegills, and crappies.
Lake Michigan Fishing Report
Anglers on the rivers are reporting that they have been searching for steelhead. In other areas, we’re seeing reports of whitefish, walleye, perch, and coho salmon.
Lake Superior Fishing Report
Those finding good spots to fish are reporting walleye, brown trout, panfish, pike, and coho salmon.
