Published: Wednesday, January 21, 2015

A report highlighting the various activities of the Department of Natural Resources' Fisheries Division during fiscal year 2014 has been produced and is now available online at

The 2014 Fisheries Division Annual Report summarizes the programs and work completed by division staff in the past fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2013, through Sept. 30, 2014) in an effort to maintain and improve Michigan’s fisheries. The report categorizes the division’s work within the goals it developed as part of its five-year strategic plan, published in March 2013.

Highlights of the report include:

  • The number of fish stocked in Michigan’s waters and results of egg-take activities to provide fish for state hatcheries.
  • Habitat improvement efforts through dam removals and in-stream habitat improvements.
  • Assistance received from volunteers and critical partnerships, outreach and education efforts, and much more.

“This snapshot of Fisheries Division’s management of the state’s aquatic resources is intended to provide Michigan citizens with a very quick overview of our work,” said DNR Fisheries Division Chief Jim Dexter. “It also helps us track our progress as we work toward completing our strategic plan and is something we are proud to share.”

Fisheries Division welcomes input from readers of the 2014 annual report. The public is encouraged to share comments via email at [email protected].
