Marine News from the Great Lakes

By: Martin Flory Group 2014/searayseekeeper.jpgWith the introduction of its all-new L-Class in February, Sea Ray ushered in a new era for luxury yachting. The L-Class delivers an unprecedented level of customer service and a peerless combination of craftsmanship and design innovation. And with its flagship L650 Fly, Sea Ray marks a milestone in the evolution of boating as the first serialized production builder to standardize Seakeeper gyro stabilizers, providing an optimal marine experience.

"The L-Class represents a new paradigm for Sea Ray and for yachting in general, and with the L650 Fly, we have demonstrated just how thoroughly true style and true performance elevate one another," said Sea Ray Group president Tim Schiek.

Complementing Sea Ray's impeccable hull design, the two Seakeepers give L650 Fly owners a whole new level of comfort, control and peace of mind. "The inclusion of Seakeeper gyros is a testament to how fully the L-Class embodies ingenuity and innovation in service of a better experience on the water. We are thrilled to offer Seakeepers as a standard feature on the L650 Fly," said Brunswick Recreational Boat Group VP of engineering Ron Berman. In sea trials of up to 5' seas, the Seakeepers reduced resonant boat roll by 83% at zero speed, 80% at 8 knots and 76% at 18 knots.

"Modern engineering and naval architecture have greatly improved natural hull stability, yet any vessel is still prone to resonant roll. Sea Ray recognized that combining its advanced hull physics with Seakeepers will deliver the best experience on the water," said Andrew Semprevivo, Seakeeper director of global sales.

Semprevivo credited global account manager Phil Bourque with finalizing the partnership. "Phil represents well Seakeeper's commitment to service and delivering beyond expectations," he said. "We're honored that Seakeepers are included as standard equipment on the Sea Ray L650 Fly. Our technology adds value that customers increasingly demand, and can now expect upon delivery of this industry-leading vessel."

The L650 Fly features seamless transitions between onboard areas and an interior flooded with natural light, demonstrating the tenets of Sea Ray's SkyFlow Design™. Twin 1,150 hp Caterpillar diesels push the L650 Fly to top speeds of over 30 knots. The compact Seakeepers are mounted aft of the engines, port and starboard, and are nearly silent during operation.

Every Sea Ray L-Class yacht is backed by a three-year, bow-to-stern warranty. Clients receive concierge-assisted sales, vessel orientation by a Sea Ray captain and prioritized customer service. "From the first encounter, L-Class owners will savor their time with these yachts," said Schiek.

Seakeeper is a global leader in gyro stabilization systems, with more than 1,500 installations on recreational, commercial and military vessels. Seakeepers virtually eliminate resonant roll whether a boat is underway, or at slow speed or zero speed.
