HOW MANY OF US HAVE PURCHASED A PAPER nautical chart for the purpose of having it displayed as wall décor? A great idea, but there are inherent problems. The traditional chart is meant for navigation, thus it is printed on low quality paper. It will fade and discolor no matter how it is framed. In addition, there is the high cost of conventional framing.
Given this scenario, the concept was clear: what if a chart could be custom printed, avoiding the paper chart entirely?
Nautical Articles, LLC was founded in 2010 to create fine art nautical charts for wall décor. Their innovative concept is printing on heavyweight art canvas which renders an extraordinary look and texture to the art. It is then finished in the popular gallery wrap format. They stretch the canvas around a wooden frame, avoiding the expense of conventional framing. The contemporary gallery wrap style adds to the unique character of the chart. A variety of sizes are available.
In 2013, Nautical Articles added wall murals to their line. These can be produced in a larger size than the canvas gallery wrap, making for a bold statement. Murals are printed on a self adhesive, repositionable media for simple installation.No wallpaper paste is required. Overall mural size determines whether single 42", or multiple 36" wide panels are used. Multiple panels are overlapped and trimmed similar to wallpaper installation. Since printing is done in very high resolution there is no practical limit to the mural size (see ad on next page).
All materials are archival; the art will not fade or discolor even when displayed in sunlight.
