Welcome to Big Daddy’s Boat Yard

A Monroe, Michigan, Marina

Published: Wednesday, January 27, 2021

WWE superstar Terrance Gerin, better known to wrestling fans as Rhyno, can show why he has every business being in the boating business.

In October of 2018, Michigan-native Gerin purchased a 69-slip marina located at 1391 Bridge Dr. in Monroe, Michigan. Previously known as LaPlaisance Creek Marina, it now bears the name Big Daddy's Boat Yard. Gerin, a lifelong boater, wanted Big Daddy's to reflect what he's always loved about the water. It's a place that's laid back, where you can leave your problems behind, and where you can focus on the fun that being part of the boating community offers.

While the name reflects ease and relaxation, Gerin has proven that he is taking making Big Daddy's into a successful Monroe business very seriously. Each day finds him hands-on, and anyone passing by or visiting can see the hard work and dedication he has put into creating the kind of marina he can be proud of.

Since purchasing the property, Gerin has worked on everything from lighting and graveling the parking lot to ensure the lawn is maintained and the docks are clean.

Furthermore, even the details in the logo were not left to chance. Gerin lifted the skull and crossbones, popularized during the War of 1812, as a nod to the Battle of River Raisin. He chose to incorporate the Detroit River Lighthouse because he knew it was a popular destination for boaters in the area.

“As a huge fan of history, I feel proud to own a business in a community with such significant historical roots,” said Gerin. “I want to make sure that there is a great and welcoming atmosphere at my boatyard.”

Gerin is thankful to the community for their support in welcoming him and he looks forward to enjoying his future in the marina business.
