The Catawba Island Boat Show is Just Around the Corner!

Published: Thursday, April 21, 2016

Spring is just around the corner! It may be hard to look out at Lake Erie
these days and see warm, sunny boating weather, but the announcement of dates for the 12th
annual Progressive Insurance Catawba Island Boat Show reminds us that spring is in sight.
Slated to again tie up at the prestigious Catawba Island Club, Friday to Sunday, April 29-May 1,
it has become popular as one of the classy weekend boating events of the year. It’s also dubbed
the kick-off for Lake Erie’s boating season.
The in-water setting at the Catawba Island Club gives the show a unique character. It is the only
time each year the general public can access these beautiful private marina grounds. As the
boating industry begins to see growth again, this year’s show is expected to be the largest in its
history with more boats in-the-water and more accessory displays ringing the harbor basin.
Area dealers will be displaying many 2016 models from center consoles to motor yachts. Last
year’s fleet included inflatables to 60-foot cruisers. The show also features hand-picked preowned
boats. Moreover, the format of the show permits easy demonstrations and sea trials and
the timing allows dealers to display new models and larger boats they’ve received since the
Cleveland show last January.
The atmosphere at this show is always fun! Daily live musical entertainment and other special
events including wine and craft beer tasting events are a part of the special nature of this show.
Show hours will be: Friday (April 29), 12 Noon to 6 PM; Saturday (April 30), 10 AM to 6 PM;
and Sunday (May 1), 11 AM to 5 PM. Parking and show admission is all free.
