RECIPE: Loaded Apples

My crew has been known to stay out on the river for days at a time on our 330 Sundancer. Whether it be docked or on the anchor, it takes a lot to keep our boat in “ship-shape” for those days away.
Captain Tom has not only appointed himself the Captain of our vessel but has also staked a claim as being “Captain of the Lifetime Cooler.” So, while he stocks our drinks and calculates what amount of ice is needed on board (something about ice per square feet, which is then somehow divided by the number of days away from civilization... or something like that), I, the First Mate of our vessel, have appointed myself “The First Mate of Food!”
First Mate of Food has its challenges because the Little Skippers we have aboard require an excessive amount of grub while out on the river. Now don’t let their title fool you. The fact that my kids are referred to as the “Little Skippers” does NOT—in any way—indicate that they actually perform any nautical duty to help out on board, but that’s okay. I would much rather see them playing nicely together while hearing their cute little giggles carry across the water!
I truly enjoy the fact that we can allow our Little Skippers to innocently play out in the fresh air, swim at a natural sandy bottom beach, or have absolutely no luck at fishing on a hot, long summer day. Making happy, life-long memories for my children truly warms my heart. So, when my Little Skippers are off creating summer adventures, I, the First Mate of Food, find myself preparing the fuel for their adventures! Here is one of my favorite kid-friendly snacks that is not only healthy but also fun to eat!
Cheers!

Loaded Apples
Serves 2 adventurous Little Skippers
Stock your galley with:
3 Granny Smith apples
3oz creamy peanut butter
2oz honey
2oz mini chocolate chips
2oz crushed walnuts
2oz craisins
Instructions:
Wash your apples before slicing; add slices to a plate. Scoop out about 3oz of creamy peanut butter and add it to a microwavable mug or small bowl. Microwave the peanut butter for 20-30 seconds to melt it; then, drizzle over the sliced apples. Next, drizzle with your favorite honey and sprinkle on the mini chocolate chips, craisins, and crushed walnuts.
