Progressive Insurance St. Pete Boat Show Seminars Share Sailing Sagas, Strategies, and Secrets

The 44th Annual St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, presented by Progressive Insurance, takes place January 20-23, 2022, at the Duke Energy Center for the Arts Mahaffey Theater – Yacht Basin and Albert Whitted Park (next to The Dali Museum). Tickets are on sale now and must be purchased online at www.stpeteboatshow.com.

Returning this year are several boating seminars, presented by renowned speakers such as Blaine Parks on “Offshore Safety and Passagemaking.” Tony Wall provides “Gulfstream Tactics and Weather Planning.” Bill Cullen describes “Cruising The Exumas and The Bahamas Out Islands.” Audiences will also enjoy “Attitude: the Difference Between An Ordeal and An Adventure” by Bob Bitchin, “Healthy Cruising” with Kim Hess and Monica Kendrick discussing “Zero to Sixty, Becoming a Woman Sailor.”

A Kids’ Fishing Clinic is presented by Hook the Future for children ages 4-16 on Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January 23 by a local television broadcaster. Host and Captain Don Dingman gives each young participant a free rod and reel and likes to say, “I not only teach kids how to fish, but also teach the parents to learn how important it is to spend quality time with their own kids.”

Other seminar topics include Life Raft Use and Survival with a demonstration; Female Boat Ownership; Maritime Fire Safety by Fire Ranger Marine; Short Handed Offshore Preparation & Passage Making; Is Your Boat Prepared for Emergency Docking?; First Time Cruising The Bahamas; Cooking at Sea; Weather Patterns and Sailing Strategies in The Bahamas, Florida and Caribbean; and Gadgetry You Need on Your Vessel.

All event participants, including exhibitors, visitors, crew, and staff will be required to follow enhanced health and safety standards, known as AllSecure that have been adopted by the industry state-wide and raise the bar on safe, hygienic, productive, and high-quality organized event experiences. The standards are being constantly reviewed and updated by Informa and will be made available on the website. The St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show will be organized in accordance with the new AllSecure standards, as well as all official government and local authority guidance and regulations.

Hours for the St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, presented by Progressive Insurance, are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, January 20-21; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. General Admission is $19 for adults free for children ages 15 and under. Tickets are on sale now online at https://www.stpeteboatshow.com/en/home.html. There will be one box office window in the credentials tent for attendees unable to buy tickets in advance. Veterans and active-duty military simply show proof of military service for a FREE ticket.
