Published: Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Freedom Boat Club, the nation's oldest and largest boat club with 17,000+ members in 31 states and Canada, recently announced the third year of a major national partnership to benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America.

During the summer months, Freedom Boat Clubs throughout the country will host special events for Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliates. In Lower West Michigan, Freedom Boat Club is hosting a party at Saint Joseph, MI on September 22 and expects to entertain more than (45) "Bigs" and "Littles" featuring a cook out and boat rides on the Saint Joseph River and Lake Michigan.

"We're all very excited about the opportunity to take young people boating," said Tom Armon, owner/operator of FBC St. Jospeh,  "While we feel great about fundraising and contributing to a great cause, nothing gives our team more satisfaction than introducing young people to the fun and excitement of boating!  We know we have made a difference by the facial expressions. We hope this event will create a memory for the Bigs and Littles that will last a lifetime."

For Direct donations to “All Aboard for Littles” contact Tom at 855-426-2863 -0 or BBBS’s Jenny Miner at 269-684-1100 “As an extra incentive, Freedom Boat Club of Michiana (St. Joseph, Holland & Michigan City, Indiana) will donate $100 for every new member that joins the club in the month September.

For the third year in Freedom Boat Club's 28-year history, the franchisor's corporate ownership and franchise owners/operators are working together in a cause marketing campaign to raise both awareness and funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. This well-respected 114-year old organization is the largest volunteer-supported mentoring network in the nation, encompassing nearly 300 affiliates that have served over 2 million children in the last 10 years. The group matches adult volunteers known as 'Bigs' with 6-18-year-old children known as 'Littles' in communities throughout the country.  Locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lower West Michigan serves over 160 children and youth each year.

Over the past two years, Freedom Boat Clubs nationwide collected and contributed more than $106,000 and plans to keep the momentum going in 2018. All proceeds will be returned to the local communities where funds are raised.
