Erie Islands Sailing School Changes Hands
Published: Tuesday, November 2, 2021
Tim McKenna, founder of the Erie Islands Sailing School, announced today that the school has changed hands. The school has been offering certification classes as an affiliate of the American Sailing Association, private lessons, and charters for over ten years. During this time over 600 students have taken ASA classes at the school locations in Sandusky, Catawba Island and Cleveland, OH.
Tricia and Kent Purvis of Perrysburg, OH will be the new owners of the school. Both are lifelong boaters and natives of the Sandusky area. They plan to continue operations out of the primary location at the Safe Harbor Sandusky Marina and in Cleveland and will remain an affiliate school of the American Sailing Association. They look forward to building on the foundation and reputation of the school as they prepare to expand services and growth in the Sandusky, Cleveland and Toledo markets, continuing to provide sailing opportunities to anyone with a dream!
McKenna said that it has been a fun time watching people of all ages and backgrounds as they are exposed to the world of sailing. He wants to thank all the people who have taken the classes over the years and particularly thanks the instructors who worked with him to make the school a success. Tim will remain involved with Tricia and Kent during a transition period as they prepare for the 2022 season.
