CAPRIA Stacker Cranes: Revolutionizing Boat Storage for Profitability

Published: Monday, April 1, 2024 12:00 pm

While having more customers than available storage or expansion space is a favorable situation, it still translates to lost revenue.

To sustainably grow their customer base, many clever dry stack owners are opting to establish additional storage facilities offsite. By employing advanced technologies like the astute semi-automated Stacker Crane and efficient ground transport methods, businesses can accommodate hundreds of additional boats for both daily launching and long-term storage. This strategic move not only enhances operational capacity but also significantly improves the bottom line.

CAPRIA Stacker Cranes are available in two styles. The top-running version employs an overhead case, whereas the bottom-running model moves along rails positioned outside the racks. Both configurations allow for narrower aisles and higher storage capacity compared to traditional forklift methods. This optimized use of a building's entire square footage not only maximizes efficiency but also contributes to increased profitability.

With a CAPRIA Stacker Crane, the operator remains at fork level with the boat, minimizing the risk of pulling it off center. Plus, the machinery’s regulated axial geometry ensures that accidental bumps are virtually eliminated, enhancing safety and precision during operations.

At an off-site dry stack facility, the crane operator receives a launch request and proceeds to extract the boat from its rack. The Stacker Crane then carefully positions it onto a yard trailer, ready for transportation to the launch site. Subsequently, a standard marina forklift is utilized to lower the vessel into the water facilitating a seamless transition from storage to launching.

Integrating a CAPRIA Stacker Crane into a new or current dry stack operation is straightforward. Neither of the configurations requires a solid floor, lessening construction costs. An installation video is at www.bit.ly/CapriaInstallation.

CAPRIA Stacker Cranes are CE-marked and made according to ISO 9001 standards. These cranes can be customized to handle vessels measuring up to 42 feet in length and weighing 22,000 lbs. Their fully electric design ensures a quiet and fume-free operation, creating a pleasant and eco-friendly work environment. With outstanding reliability, CAPRIA cranes boast a service life exceeding 30 years, and require minimal maintenance, compared to a forklift with a 10-year lifespan.

With over 50 years of experience in precision heavy machinery manufacturing and over 20 years in marine systems, CAPRIA S.A. has established itself as a trusted industry leader. With dry stack installation spanning the globe, CAPRIA has demonstrated a track record of enhancing profitability for its customers.
