125 Years Proves Sandusky Yacht Clubís Ability To Create Love For The Lakes

Published: Friday, April 19, 2019

Serenely nestled along the Ohio north shore and deeply tucked into the protected waters of Lake Erie’s Sandusky Bay, Sandusky Yacht Club celebrates their 125th anniversary this boating season. In 1894, a stalwart group forged together and formed SYC. The Club was open to all who understood the romantic call of deep water and a need for adventure.

The physical plant of SYC has evolved many times throughout the years, but homeport has always been Sandusky Bay. Centered between monster roller coasters, verdant Lake Erie islands, and historical monuments, one easily senses the reason Forbes magazine recently named Sandusky as Ohio’s top retirement location. From the comfort of the deck on your boat at the SYC Marina, you can view the thrills of Cedar Point Amusement Park to the east and, to the west, the rich vermilion sunsets each evening.

Today, the Sandusky Yacht Club blends generations of yachtsmen and sailors. SYC families unwind at a resort style environment, enjoying one another’s company all year long. In the heart of a vibrant downtown, SYC has been a cruising destination for many I-LYA clubs and their members. With over 40 transient slips available to I-LYA and YCA members, the club hosts multiple events each year and is a top destination for Lake Erie boaters.

While the yacht club is rich in Lake Erie tradition, the club’s leadership is also fostering the next generation’s love for the lake. Come and join as families enjoy the pool, couples walk the docks, and members experience gourmet meals in the clubhouse or out on the lakeside veranda. The beautiful lakeside location provides many local newlyweds the opportunity to start their life together on the SYC grounds!

Individuals interested in membership are invited to contact the club to experience the memories that are made daily and last a lifetime.
