Aquabotix, a marine technology company that is delivering the accessibility of today’s consumer electronics products to the complex world of underwater video, announced the immediate launch of its AquaLens Pro, a second-generation upgrade to its successful AquaLens underwater viewing system, which premiered in late 2011. The AquaLens Pro was introduced to the public for the first time at the Miami International Boat Show.
Designed to be mounted on the end of a standard boat hook or other guide pole, the AquaLens leverages its built-in powerful LED lights to illuminate the depths as it transmits a live video feed from its HD video camera back to the surface. Where the original AquaLens provides a valuable set of eyes for boaters to evaluate the well-being of their vessel, the new Pro version elevates it to an indispensible tool for search and rescue applications and commercial uses. Rugged and dependable, the AquaLens Pro is designed to take a beating in the field. With a waterproof and impact-resistant topside box featuring an embedded 3.5 inch LCD monitor and a rechargeable battery pack, the AquaLens Pro is designed to be withstanding of the most challenging conditions. Building on its predecessor’s proven platform, the AquaLens Pro includes new features such as:
- Pressure resistance down to 300 feet deep; reachable via a 25 foot a Kevlar-reinforced video cable that can be extended with optional 50 foot cables up to 500 feet
- Upgraded top-side box centralizes the unit’s rechargeable batteries, controls and other vital components in a buoyant, waterproof housing sealed with stainless steel inserts and water tight connectors
- High visibility lime green color face for enhanced visibility by the user as the unit delves underwater
- An optional add-on viewing station offers an embedded 7 inch LCD screen and video recording capabilities that make the Pro version ideal for record keeping or even getting up close footage of undersea life
“Developed as a piece-of-mind solution for the numerous sleepless nights boaters experience worried about the condition of their vessels below the waterline, the AquaLens was our flagship product,” said Durval Tavares, President & CEO, Aquabotix. “We released the AquaLens as an easy-to-use tool for boat owners who have found they needed to dive deep to survey a propeller shaft or examine hull conditions. As uses expanded beyond the recreational boating market, we realized that the rough, often perilous demands of commercial audiences and search-and-rescue operators required a fortification of the AquaLens’ unique capabilities.”
The AquaLens Pro is the first in a line of exciting new products that are slated for roll out throughout this year. The AquaLens Pro retails for an MSRP of $1295 and is currently available for direct purchase through the Aquabotix website or Aquabotix retailers.
