Location: Show map
767-799 E Water St
Sandusky, OH 44870
As of June 22, the call was made to cancel the show. A note from the show's organizers, LEMTA:
We had hoped to move forward with our new Sandusky Boat Show for 2020.
However, given all the COVID-19 mitigation needed, added to the complexity of the show and concerns for dealer inventory, the committee has decided that it is best we wait until 2021 to launch this wonderful new show in the beautiful City of Sandusky.
We look forward to 2021 and our partnership with the city and Battery Park Marina to have a fantastic show next year.
New Boat Show will Premiere in Sandusky, Ohio
The Lake Erie Marine Trades Association has announced it will unveil a new in-water boat show for four days, August 27-30, at the Battery Park Marina in downtown Sandusky, Ohio.
Appropriately named the Sandusky Boat Show, the event replaces the long-running show that was held at Cedar Point for the last 46 years.
“The recent increases in boat show attendance and the record popularity of Cedar Point now simply overtaxes the access and parking available for both,” explained LEMTA president Michelle Burke. “But with the history of success for the boat show in that area, our goal has been to keep it in the Sandusky community, and Battery Park Marina will provide us an exciting, easy to reach, new site.”
While the show will be taking on a new configuration, Burke emphasized many of the most popular events and features will be repeated at Battery Park. For example, last year’s highly successful premiere of hand-picked local food trucks will again be incorporated to provide food and beverage variety for show visitors. In addition, schedules of on-stage seminars covering topics ranging from important winterizing tips to the latest smartphone boating apps and many more will again be featured in the big marine accessory display tent planned for the new show site.
Also, last year’s first-ever “Parking Lot Sale,” in which dealers displayed a variety of pre-owned trailerable fishing, runabout and water sports models at clearance prices, will be continued, as will a variety of live musical entertainment scheduled daily, among other features.
It will all be surrounded by an expected fleet of over 300 new boats displayed in-water and on adjacent land space. They’ll range from inflatable dinghies to motor yachts and cruising sailboats. Just as in previous years, nearly every major brand will be displayed by dealers from around Ohio and Michigan.
Not everything will be new, however. There has always been a limited number of select pre-owned boats displayed in this show and that will be true again. In addition, one of the oldest and most popular show features, “Discover Sailing,” is expected to be back. Since first initiated, professional instructors have taken out more than 600 show visitors that want a chance to really sample sailing out on Sandusky Bay. Guests actually take the helm and trim sails for the hands-on sailing experience.
More than 10,000 boaters from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania annually attend this show every year. Burke indicated show hours and admission prices will be announced soon.
