Sun Safe Boating – The Sensible Way to Boat

Published: Friday, April 14, 2017 9:00 am

Sun safety is an important — yet often overlooked — aspect of boat safety. With fishing, cruising, tubing, anchoring, lounging, entertaining… the time you spend on your boat adds up quickly. And it only takes 20 minutes of sun exposure to get sunburn if not properly protected.

A new sun safety campaign — Sun Safe Boating — aims to improve public awareness and reinforce the message that improved sun protection is critical to safety & enjoyment on the water.

The ongoing campaign is being led by boat shade manufacturer SureShade, with partners like Sunbrella, National Safe Boating Council, Baseball Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, as well as Great Lakes Scuttlebutt. Together we hope to educate boaters about how to protect themselves from harmful UV rays and be more sun safe while boating.

Boaters and companies in the recreational boating industry can learn more about the campaign at www.SunSafeBoating.com.
