Toledo Antique Boat Show to Be More “Relaxed” During Area Renovations

Published: Friday, August 12, 2016

After nine great shows, the Toledo Antique & Classic Boat Show will look significantly different this year. With lots of exciting changes in Toledo’s downtown, this will be a “regrouping year” for the event staff, as they work to integrate with the dynamic of the urban waterfront culture. This year’s show will function more like a “cruise-in” than the full, two-day weekend extravaganza local boating enthusiasts have come to know and love. It will be held August 27th from 10am – 4pm at Promenade Park in downtown Toledo, between the Cherry St. Bridge and the historic steam plant (currently being renovated). The show will be FREE to the public this year, and will feature only in-water boats. Local rockabilly band Kentucky Chrome will perform from 12pm- 4pm. For visitors, parking is available in the garage on Summit St. and other nearby lots.

For boaters who have participated in the past, this will be a much more relaxed event. There is no registration, so boaters with antique and classic boats are encouraged to dock and enjoy the show for as long as they like, but are not required to stay for the duration. Please feel free to use the day to enjoy boating on the beautiful Maumee River, or even venture downriver to Lake Erie. For food, there are restaurants on the east side of the river, across from the show (dockage available), and other food vendors will be available near the show. Within walking distance are many great restaurants, including the world-famous Tony Packo’s Café.

Although this will be a much more casual event, we encourage all to join us; take a walk along the changing Toledo waterfront, enjoy some local food, and take in the beautiful classic boats. For boaters, if you have a vintage boat, we’d encourage you to stop by the show for as long as you like, show off your pride and joy, and enjoy the fellowship with other boating enthusiasts. If you have additional questions, visit www.toledoboatshow.com, check our Facebook page, or email [email protected]. See you in Toledo on August 27th!
