Warren, Rhode Island—Sail America, the trade association for the US sailing industry which provides much-needed leadership and a unified voice for the sailing industry, has partnered with the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) to offer free boat rides, sailing instruction, and sailboat tours through Sail America’s Discover Sailing program. MBIA has invited Discover Sailing to offer its free program at three boat shows around Michigan between September 2014 and March 2015.
Discover Sailing will be available at the following boat shows in Michigan:
5th Annual Boating & Outdoor Festival, September 11–14, 2014 (Lake St. Clair Metropark)
57th Annual Detroit Boat show, February 14–22, 2015 (Cobo Center, Detroit)
23rd Annual Spring Boating Expo, March 12–15, 2015 (Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi)
“One of the best ways to learn about sailing is to visit a sailing show,” Peter Durant, Sail America’s Association Director, says. “The Discover Sailing program offers free boat rides designed to introduce kids and adults to the excitement of sailing along with introducing on-the-water education.
“We invite you to be a part of our team as we highlight the Discover Sailing programs around the state of Michigan,” Nicki Polan, Executive Director of MBIA, states. “We are eager to continue contributing to the health and growth of sailing. Each show offers free admittance to children 12 and under, so the aisles will be filled with young minds and adventurous spirits—our next generation of sailors.”
Sail America’s Discover Sailing pavilions are present at boat shows across the country to introduce people to the sport of sailing or help old pros hone their existing skills through free seminars, sail coaching, and samples of the latest and greatest products from the sailing industry’s top manufacturers and suppliers. We invite you to be a part of our team as we highlight the Discover Sailing programs around the state of Michigan and to promote the health and growth of sailing!
