Canada's Venice - Lagoon City

Published: Thursday, August 16, 2012 7:00 am

Have you ever imagined mooring your boat directly at or under your home? Well, here it is — a boater's paradise. Lagoon City is located only 70 miles northeast of Toronto on the east side of Lake Simcoe, 15 miles south of Orillia. Conveniently located, but nicely secluded. You can enjoy the 10 miles of scenic waterways with direct access to Lake Simcoe and, from there, travel hundreds of miles via the Trent-Severn waterway.

There are over 400 town homes, condos, and private homes on beautifully landscaped properties with an amazing number of types and styles of homes with lots and views to choose from.

If you have ever visited South Florida you will find Lagoon City offers a very similar lifestyle... well, except that we still have winter, and the water does freeze here in Canada.

The boating season can be extended on the quiet and protected waterways with the added benefit of year round activities within this spectacular 1,600 acre resort community.

Just a short cruise through the canals and you enter into Lake Simcoe where you have access to sandy beaches and quiet anchorages providing excellent swimming, water skiing, wind and kite surfing.

Stay on the canals, and you can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, or paddle-boating. In the winter the same canals provide a venue for skating, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Downhill ski resorts are only 45 minutes away. From spring to fall, golf, horseback riding, and go carting are nearby and the world-class Casino Rama is only 16 miles away. Like Cuban cigars? Just up from the casino is a walk-in humidor with cigars priced from a couple of dollars to over $100 per cigar.

Also part of the community is one Canada's first timeshare ownership resorts which offers year-round tennis, indoor pool, hot tub, spa facilities, casual and fine dining facilities.

A private members' yacht club and a full service marina provide the usual boating facilities and activities for seasonal and transient boaters with direct and protected access from Lake Simcoe.

Lagoon City is a wonderful place to live, work, and play in winter or summer. It is the ideal setting for all boaters, canoeists, kayakers, fishermen, and outdoor enthusiasts.
