Forum Marine offers fine motorboats and sailboats internationally. With US locations in Annapolis, Maryland and Houston, Texas, they find and sell the highest quality boats to the discerning consumer. Forum Services imports and distributes all six boats that they feature in our winter issue of Great Lakes Scuttlebutt: the Cornish Shrimper, the Mystery 35, the Frauscher 717 GT, the Class 2M Elegant Day Boat, the Pro Classic, and the Rackam 26.
The Cornish Shrimper
People travel from all over the world to experience the drama of the Cornish Coastline. The sight of a fleet of Cornish Shrimpers epitomizes the style and romance associated with all the boats in the Cornish Crabber range. Built to an uncompromisingly high standard throughout, and in consultation with the customer, each Cornish Crabber boat leaves the factory reflecting the pride they take in their product and the style and personality defined by them in conjunction with you, the owner.
Along with their efforts to keep up the traditional feel throughout their range of Cornish Crabber boats comes the determination to stay up to date with current technologies. New challenges are taken on with enthusiasm and the current market requirements are always considered.
The Cornish Shrimper 19 is their most popular model. She has a classic styling that appeals to sailors from any generation and a build quality that will match her reputation as the best British production Gaffer of all time. Cornish Crabber has built over 1000 Cornish Shrimpers since 1979 with the original boats still sailing all over the world.
The modern Cornish Shrimper 19 now comes with a choice of interior layouts and optional 9hp inboard diesel engine. Every boat is built for the owner with hull color and interior paint / varnish finished to your liking. Top quality deck fittings, sails and accessories come as standard.
The self-draining cockpit in the Cornish Shrimper 19 is vast compared to other boats of her size and the companionway leads down to a classic two-berth arrangement or modern 2+2 layout with space for a sea toilet if required.
The Mystery 35
Designed by the UK’s most prolific yacht designers and built to the exacting standards inherited from their parent company, Cornish Crabbers, Mystery Yachts will turn the head of any yachtsman looking for something special.
Every Mystery Yacht is built to order to the semi-bespoke specification of the owner. Both of the Mystery boats are designed primarily to go sailing with no compromise in handling or performance given in favor of interior accommodation.
The Mystery 35 is the flagship of the Mystery range. Her stunning classic lines and modern, high-stability design concept make her the ideal purchase for a couple or family looking for a safe, fast, and dry cruising yacht. The windward performance of the Mystery 35 is unmatched by any other boat of her type due to her deep lead bulb keel which provides an angle of vanishing stability of 150º. The modern ‘skinny jib’ fractional rig layout makes for very easy handling and with all the controls lead aft to the cockpit she is simple to handle even single-handed.
The Mystery 35 is unquestionably beautiful with the styling and finish quality that is carried through all of their boats. Although the finish can be bespoke to the customer, most people are delighted with the standard painted finish with Mahogany wood trims.
The Mystery 35 has a spacious forward cabin with double v-berth that is placed forward of the adjoining storage/vanity area. The heads/shower cubicle is to port, forward of the saloon area which includes two single saloon berths and a good-sized folding Mahogany table. The Mystery 35 Galley is situated to port of the companionway with a full size chart table to starboard. A king size single quarter berth (plenty big enough for the most ample of skippers!) is situated aft of the chart table.
717 GT Frauscher
Based on the shores of Lake Traunsee, Austria, the team at Frauscher Boats has been building some of the most stylish luxury runabouts in the world since 1927.
The 717 GT Frauscher Power Motoryacht is one of the finest examples, winning European Powerboat of the Year in 2010. The well-tested sub-construction was developed carefully along the lines of the Gentlemen’s racers that inspired this unique watercraft. The classic shaft propulsion together with the exceptional hull design allows for perfect maneuvering at all times. Like the luxury vehicles of the road, class and performance can be achieved on the water on the speedboat scale. The Frauscher Boats 717 GT is a prime example of the luxury speedboat, with a hull and heartbeat that means business – and a top end interior as refined as they come. The power in this poweryacht comes from a gasoline, diesel or hybrid engine pushing 184 – 309 kW of muscle as the 717 GT glides across the open water.
Class 2M: The Elegant Day Boat
The Class 2M, designed by Fritsch-Associes Design, is a sleek contemporary keel boat.
A true upwind keel boat, Class 2M is a sailboat associating performance and design. Class 2M will satisfy both those looking for leisurely cruising and those wishing to race. Its spacious and clear cockpit as well as its good seaworthiness make this day boat an ideal choice for trips out alone or with the family.
Its contemporary hull with sharp forward waterlines allied to a generous and powerful sail plan will satisfy the most demanding racing sailors seeking performance.
Class 2M possesses a lifting keel — a real innovation on a keel boat of this type — that allows easy transport and launching and facilitates interclub regattas. Mast stepping is also easy thanks to a simple system.
The design of Class 2M is characterized by sober and tense lines, and the notion of shape is strictly connected to its function. Minimalism also defines this project in that the pure lines evoke a timeless aspect.
Pro Classic Boats
In 1999 Yves Bouchard decided to pay tribute to his family’s time honored tradition of building wooden boats; he embarked upon the Pro Classic boats. Merged with the classic look of the runabouts from the 20's and the 30's are the curves reminiscent of the boats of his ancestors. Pro Classic Boats is the result of the combined skill, understanding and artistry of accomplished sailors and Company Vice-President Yves Bouchard.
A luxury wooden boat from ProClassic features a motor under the hood, multi-functional tan platform, and plenty of space for comfort. There is a bedroom and toilet under the hood, wooden bar, refrigerator, and sink. There are two fuel tanks, a built-in GPS system, removable table, and storage under the floor.
Optional equipment includes a bed on the table in the seating area, aquatic AM/FM/CD/MP3/DVD receiver, a second tan platform on the front with cushion, Bimini top, motor engine of your choice, and customizable dashboard and steering.
The Rackam 26
Elegant and sporty, Rackam 26 is a fast cruising catamaran, safe and with a real cabin. With 26 ft hulls, the boat fulfills the expectations of crews looking for speed in comfort.
With four different specifications, the Rackam 26 appeals to different applications. For relaxed sailing, there is the Day Boat. It is safe and fast, primarily conceived for coastal hopping and camping. It is recommended for two-day raids and for picnics with the family or friends.
The Racing boat is dedicated to speed and performance. With its long dagger boards and its extended carbonrigging, this version reaches speeds similar to those of Formule 28 boats.
The Wing Cruiser is the right catamaran for family cruising. A large central structure houses a cabin with a table for four, which can convert into a double berth. A kitchen is on portside and a navigation table is on starboard of the cabin. A large central platform (12.47 ft x 10.50 ft) offers a safe area for all the family.
The Wing X’treme is the most extreme version, designed for fun, speed, and thrill. It is dedicated to crews who want to enjoy coastal cruising on one hull with the same pleasure as sailing an 18-footer! Rackam 26 Wing X’reme will attract sensations and speed aficionados.
