Toronto, ON – The 53rd Annual Toronto International Boat Show is pleased to present the first Canadian appearance of Zac Sunderland, the youngest person to sail around the world solo at the age of 16. For two days only, January 14 & 15, 2011, meet this intrepid adventurer at the 2011 Toronto Boat Show's Presentation Theatre seminar stage where he'll share tales of his record-breaking solo navigation.

Zac learned how to sail when he was four years old, and at 16 he embarked on the adventure of a lifetime – setting sail into the Pacific Ocean on a quest to see the world alone. Without sponsorship, Zac bought his boat, Intrepid, with his life savings of $6,500 earned working on boats and buying, repairing and selling boats.

With Intrepid his only companion, for 13 months he weathered perilous storms, threatening pirates, and the unique loneliness experienced by solo sailors who for weeks at a time have no direct human contact.

Zac embraced new cultures, learned new languages, and made lifelong friends– even losing some to the sea. And in July 2009 he realized his dream: Zac became the youngest solo sailor to circum navigate the world and the first under 18!

Now 18, Zac is training to scale Mount Everest, and is plotting an expedition through the Northwest Passage.
